What makes a good leader?

I have had a few good leaders and plenty of bad leaders. The qualities I found in the good ones was the ability to be a good follower. They understood what it was like to have to follow and work as a team. The project or task wasn’t about them, or about their accomplishments but the team as a whole. They encouraged members of the team and was able to balance the member needs with the goal that was to be accomplished.
